Awakening the Musical Soul

Every living entity is musical. The Vedas called it Nada Brahma — the universe is sound. Science calls it the Big Bang. This book stands where those two meet: the guru’s wisdom and the researcher’s evidence, both saying the same thing — the music is already in the child. Our only task is not to silence it.

By Vidushi Saskia Rao-de Haas — creator of Sangeet4All. For parents, teachers, and anyone who has ever wondered what music does to a growing mind.

The Author

Saskia Rao-de Haas, author

Author of eleven books on Indian music for children — and a writer long before Sangeet4All: three decades of articles in leading publications across India, the US, and the Netherlands, from Sruti Magazine to the programme book of the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, and the Indian music history book for the Conservatory of Rotterdam.

Her books have travelled: Shastra was released at the Asia Society in New York and in Houston, during the Jaipur Literature Festivals — and at the Bangalore Literature Festival, her “Sangeet Aur Katha” sessions (2017, 2018, 2019, 2022) turned her books into live storytelling with music, with the Sangeet4All stand a festival fixture every year.
